“Intrapersonal Conflicts In The Context Of Art”

The idea behind this training is to explore the connotations, existence and nature of interpersonal conflicts that appear as a result of contrasting and questioning two distinguished—as far as style is concerned—artistic creations - “Veronika” & “You’re not the One Who Only”.

   The challenge for the audience (participants) is to compare and analyse the nature of the conflicts that can be visible between the lines of each composition.

   We divide the class into two parts - “The Dark” group & their “Solitude and Independence” counterpart.

“The Dark” are handed the lyrics of a gloomy, confrontational, deceitful, trifling with, thought-provoking, pain-inflicting, shamanistic composition -“Veronika”.

   “Solitude & Independence” have been bequeathed a romantic, soulful, wavy, lonely, melancholic, sad work of art.

   So, the lyrics have been given away & the assignment is to listen to the live performance of each of the compositions—the figments of imagination—& come up with ideas, explanations & demystifications that would shed light on the types of the conflicts & hidden meaning that can be tracked down between the lines of their elusive settlements.

   The task is to analyse the lyrics from the perspective of Point of View, Tone, Plot, Setting, Characters & Theme, noticing which role a conflict plays in every story.

"Veronika"

"You're Not The One Who Only"

   If we take a look at musical, rhythmical & atmospheric ingredients of the interplay between "Veronika" & "You're not the One Who Only" we'll notice that the former uncontrollably surrenders the subtlety of its ambivalence.

   We see clearly that something is about to happen. Something cunning, maybe even ominously sinister, breezily filled with dark intentions, when things don't just happen out of spite but have a logical sequence of viciously orchestrated steps that are interconnected,

which scrupulously insinuates the influential charm of the next part of the composition, keeping conflicts between the verse & bridge perched precariously.

   "You're not the One Who Only", on the contrary, tries to put you to bed & sing you a lullaby with not a bit of toss & turn prospects on the horizon, but rather sweet, carefree, weightless falling into dreams as soon as your head hits the pillow instead, with the first tunes of a lullaby song. It tickles you away with hope, getting you away from it all, which creates despairingly discrepant characters, mercifully relinquished by the peace;

which captures curiosity of the student, just before cold-heartedly, with soft gentleness and almost nursery nursing degree of care, putting a needle into the wound and spoiling the heart's appetite for unforeseen consequences.

   The purpose provides focus & a lack of meandering, while discovery elicits the impulse of innocence, hunger to penetrate the depth of, at times, belligerent knowledge.
