Dear Council, I think the best person to be honored in our city for his remarkable cultural, educational and creative achievements is Vitaly Glukhov.

First of all, for his outstanding contribution into a unique aspect of the intercultural identity of our town, Kaliningrad. When, in 2001 he organized contemporary dance project that later evolved into a remarkable theater, which was one of the first raw representations of contemporary dance underground avant-garde culture in the place where I live, ex-Königsberg,
drawing the attention of theatrical dance companies from New York, Paris, Germany, North Carolina, Poland, Saint Petersburg; where he would be invited to share his in depth experience as a director, choreographer, dancer and a teacher, with contemporary dance troupes all over the world.

He would organize master classes of contact improvisation that I had an incredible opportunity to be a part of, which had a profound impact on my relationship with creativity in an extraordinary way.
It is unbelievably inspiring when you start attending ballet classes because you have an example fluttering in front of your eyes, especially when you stretch your muscles and practise ballet with teenagers that are so much younger than you but it doesn’t bother you in the slightest because you have somebody to look up to, Vitaly Glukhov.

His uniquely original dancing style and ability to touch the strings of your soul just by moving elegantly, effortlessly, mysteriously, breathtakingly with undeniable touch of genius through the space of the stage would grasp the curious attention of many hard to please spectators leaving the long-lasting mark in their hearts.

Secondly, he possesses an extraordinary ability to read, understand and inspire a student like no other teacher I’ve ever met, period; which makes his English classes that I’d had a privilege to attend for quite a few years, like a revelation for me and his other pupils, in many ways.

He has an incomprehensible, uncanny ability to listen which makes a student feel valued - pupils accept their individuality and because of this it gives them unstoppable force to go through life by doing what they really love, sharing their enthusiasm with people around them.

And thirdly, he was and is an incredible actor in the theatre with captivating charisma and magnetizing ability to capture the attention of the most fastidious audience keeping them on the edge of their seats, which happens to be, in a sense,
double motivation for his English students who have seen him on stage acting, creating choreography, dancing, directing, organizing seminars and simply being just a good friend; all these factors make his students do their absolute best and, as a result, developing a very special, warm relationship with English.
